My most recent gallery is titled "A Day at the Marina." It was shot at the Santa Barbara Marina on a day in late Fall, when a fishing trawler, loaded with swordfish had just docked.

Monarch Cluster: Every winter, hundreds of thousands of Monarch butterfiles winter in a small Eucalyptus grove just outside of Santa Barbara. The dim light usually makes them difficult to photograph. They enjoy each other's company, and often they will cluster on a single branch, hanging there in bunches by the hundreds.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. The "luck" in this case was where this guy was sitting, juxtaposed with the taped-up old Martin guitar--and, of course, the fact that I was there with a camera at just that moment.

Truthfully, it was an accident, and I didn't spot the goofy irony in this shot until I got it home.

I think of it as my "Album Cover."
